Opening the PDF files:

The Early Reader files on this CD are in PDF format. PDF files will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have Acrobat Reader on your computer, you can download it for free from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. Acrobat Reader is available for Macintosh and Windows PC computers. The files on this CD will open in Acrobat Reader 4.0 and above.

When you click on the PDF link on the Main Page, many Internet browsers will open the file automatically. If the file does not open, check to see if it has downloaded onto your computer's desktop.

If you are not able to access the file from the Main Page of the CD, you can directly access the files by going into the "earlyreaderfiles" folder on the CD. Inside this folder, you will find another folder called "text_pdf". Double click on text_pdf to find subfolders for each language. Inside each subfolder, you will find the files for each of the ten books.

Printing the PDF files:

To print an Early Reader file, open the PDF file. Go to File and choose Print. The files will print as standard letter size (8.5x11) pages.

Microsoft Word versions:
The Microsoft Word versions of the files are the same as the PDF versions.

You can access the Microsoft Word versions of the files if you open the "earlyreaderfiles" folder on the CD and open the "text_word" folder. Word versions are available for nine languages. Word versions are not available for Marshallese because those files require a special font. Only PDF versions are available for the Marshallese books.

Audio Files:

Selected books have audio files to accompany them. The audio files are in MP3 format. MP3 files will play in media players such as:
iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes)
Windows Media Player (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia) and/or
Real Player (http://www.real.com)
Quicktime Player (http://www.apple.com/quicktime)

The files will play on any other software or devices you use to listen to MP3s.
All Macs with OSX will have iTunes and Quicktime Player already installed. Many PCs will have Windows Media Player already installed. The audio files will play on Macs and PCs.
